Hello Everyone:
I hope you are having a great week so far. I am back with more content, and this time is to talk about CONFIDENCE. I feel this is something that we all struggle our entire life, so i decided it was going to be a great topic to start the week with.
This post is also part of the series A LIFETIME JOURNEY TO WEIGHT LOSS.
OK, so that being said let’s talk about when we were born. When we first came to this world, we were perfect kids with no worries about how we look or what color was our hair or if we were short or too tall. It was then, when we stated growing up that we got aware of those thing, but that was actually based on what our parents or family members used to tell us.
Maybe you get identified with this example:
(Mom) you need to stop eating like that because you are going to get fat.
(Family) wow it is being a long time since I saw you, have you gain weight?
(Friends) you need to eat more you look anorexic.
Do you notice something? it is a pattern, right?
What do you think that happened after listening to all those comments? Well, easy answer, look at your past, and then look at your current life and you will probably see the answer.
What I want you to understand with this statement is that you create the events that happen in your life through feelings and thoughts. For the most part we like to listen to what other people have to say, and that my friend is because deep down we still need to be loved and approved by others. Body image, is a big problem in society this days, specially because of all the publicity about what should be the perfect body. if you want to be healthy, and you want to be fit, the go ahead and get your life together and do better than what you are doing right now, but if you do not care about being fit and healthy, then also get your life together and own your life the way it is and be proud about it. This is not about what other people think, this is about what you want, but what you really want and why.
How do you feel about your body right now?
My point here is for you to get to know your body and how do you honestly feel about it. Get a peace of paper and write the answer. This is for you, and nobody has to see it. It is a must that you are sincere because that will be the best way to get to where you want to go.
What are the three things you love about your physical body?
This question is to embrace yourself, to give you power and open up your eyes about what you actually like about your body.
If you would have the power to change just one thing right this minute about your body, What will that be?
This is for you to know where your focus is right now, and where to start working. Once you got the answer, then you can start planning what to do to improve that thing that you want to change and also know your why. Why do you actually want to change this part of your body?
I believe that instead of ignoring what we do not like, it is good to see our reality and where are we standing up to start fixing, specially the relationship with ourselves.
Once you answered all this questions I want you to practice an exercise. Designate a notebook for this practice, and this is something you are going to do everyday for 10 minutes. Every-time you feel you don’t have time to do it, think about what do you prefer? feel miserable the entire day or spend 10 minutes trying to make it better. This works, not only for your body, but for everything in life. I have tried this before, and I have seen massive change in my life.
I am not perfect, and body image it is something I struggled before as well. I do not want to live the rest of my life feeling that there is something missing knowing that I have the knowledge to change my reality, and that is the reason why I am here doing this series with you, so we all get the result we want. I want you to be brave and do this because you love yourself. It is not going to be easy, but we are all in this together, and we got more t lose, so let’s do it.
