Hello friends and welcome to another blog post. It has been a while since I posted a blog, but I'm looking forward to spend some time around here.

Today, I want to talk about "the victim mentality"

What is a victim mentality? To not complicate things too much which is never my intention, a victim mentality is when we are the victim under any circumstances and there is everybody else to blame for what happen to us.

Do you relate?

The truth is that having this type of mindset is not letting you advance in life but instead is keeping you stock and slave from your own thoughts. I am a big believer that we create our reality. We attract who we are which means that everything that happens to us is a reflections of ourselves.

I used to be this person that will blame my family, my past, my mom not being there for me, growing up in a humble household, not having opportunities, and I will even blame luck for not having the kinds of results that I wanted.

I have talked about this in multiple occasions. When I moved from my natal country I was miserable, I had no life of my own, no dreams or friends to look up to. I used to come home and cry every single day because I did not like the reality I was living, and don't get me wrong it wasn't even bad. I just did not see it with the eyes of opportunity or gratitud.

One day, I got home and sat on the room floor. I decided to open my computer and googled, how to change my life?

... and that's how my life changed forever.

How to get away from a victim mentality?

  1. Take some time to be by yourself, grab a journal or something, where you can write and ask yourself - how am I feeling right now? Try to be honest since this is the whole purpose of this exercise. A lot of feelings might come out, but that's necessary.

  2. Look around you and make a list of the things that are good right now in your life. There is always room for greatness. Even if you are not capable of seeing it.

  3. Close your eyes and be grateful for all you have and what you have accomplished.

  4. Take ownership of your life. You already know the problem, now, try to find the solution. Even if you don't like the solution you are coming up with, this will show, that at least, there are solutions to your problems.

  5. Aknowledge that you are the responsible and creator of your life. You created what is happening to you right now. Once you learn to accept it, that's when you'll be able to create something different for yourself. You are a desicion away.

  6. Start looking at your problems with eyes of opportunities and not with hate or discourage. You can say this is the problem I'm having what is good about this or where is the opportunity here.

  7. Ask for help to someone that can lift you up, that will bring positivity into your life, someone that can add value to your life.

If you practice all of this steps life will start smiling at you. My life changed, when I made the desicion that it was time for a change. The first thing I did was to be grateful and take control of my problems.

Now, I see life with different eyes and, I have been able to find so many opportunities everyday. That doesn't mean that I don't go through hardship, but it means that I learned to find opportunity and benefits in hard times.

I hope you find this post beneficial. I'll see you on the next one.
